TOYO
Diary with Circles and Lines
TOYO looks at things from a bird’s-eye view as if she looks at space from the outside, and depicts what she senses from them, on her theme of emotional movements of people whom she has a glimpse of or those of her own mind in the passing days.
TOYO says that painting for her is more like a diary in a sense, as she depicts everyday life and adds colors as if writing letters.
Her work is characterised by depicting people and their minds in the form of circle and line of various colors, with mainly acrylic paint, pens, paper, threads and packing materials in the abstract color fields.
Using sometimes various colors in abundance like a combination of a bouquet and circles, and at other times composing of calm colors and lines, making use of the whitespaces. Expressions of her work change as weather changes, which fascinate the viewers.
The viewers would have sympathies, excitements or nostalgic feelings at her works which show what people are feeling in daily life.
