Kwon Youngjin

Beautiful, vulnerable and sad...

White is the color of life for Kwon.

White is nothing, but it's also infinite.

It is a perfect being.

"Albinism" has become an attractive motif that symbolizes its "white"and

has become the driving force behind the story by apearing frequently in Kwon's works."

Kwon uses "albinism" as a motif in her work, expressing  the “difference”of individual thoughts not simply in it’s appearance.

By placing conflicting subjects on one screen, the artist finds strong vitality that comes from the

contradictions of similar but yet different beings, the beginning and end, and the boundary between life and death.

(the concept of a works)

The nervous cicada falls into the water with an iron clang, and The red thorns stuck in their fingernails never stop crying

The little bird, frozen, gasps for breath

Wondering flowers ever bloom again from the ripped wounds...

(from the artist’s note)
